HEATING RESISTORS

Power resistors in general can be used as heating elements or in heating applications, as their most fundamental characteristic is that of converting electric energy into thermic energy. The mark of good heating resistors, however, is thermal efficiency. An efficient thermal design allows for low thermal resistance between the resistor itself and the surrounding environment. This means that the level of electric energy necessary for generating the desired level of heat will be kept at the minimum. This means reducing energy consumption and improving the overall reliability of the circuit, as the resistor operates at relatively low temperature.

APPLICATIONS

Those resistors have plenty of every-day applications, as they can be found in objects such as electric stoves, convection heaters and ovens. As far as the industrial sector is concerned, applications are ubiquitous as well. But among some of the most notable applications, there are the following:

  • Electrical panels and circuits, to keep crucial elements at desired temperatures
  • Industrial liquid heating (e.g., food and pharmaceutical processing)
  • CCTV camera, to prevent fogging on the lenses.

FAIRFILD’S HEATING RESISTORS

Fairfild’s develops many customizations based on the specific needs of the client. Fairfilds also produce several types of off-the-shelf resistors whose thermal design and configuration is perfectly suited for heating applications.

  • Weights ranging from 0,02 kg up to 1.5kg
  • Protection degrees ranging from IPO00 (for low-stress indoor applications) to IPO54 (for extreme weather conditions).
  • Power ratings from 15 W to 1800 W
  • Ohmic values from 0.51 Ω to 91 k Ω.
